Research firm CIRP has released new data talking about the sales of Apple iPhone and iPad in the second quarter in US. The company conducted a survey based on the purchases made by 500 US customers who bought either one or two Apple devices during the last three months.

As per the data revealed by the company, the 2017 iPhone models accounted to 54% of the sale during this period. Out of all the three models launched in 2017, iPhone 8 Plus came out as the top seller with a market share of 24%. The anniversary edition iPhone X and the iPhone 8 captured 17% and 13% share respectively.

The interesting thing to note is that last year during the same time the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus grabbed 80% market share. Josh Lowitz, CIRP Partner and Co-Founder said, “In what is usually a quieter quarter for iPhone sales, the model breakdown is interesting, as older models persisted in popularity,” said Josh Lowitz, CIRP Partner and Co-Founder. “The latest iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X models accounted for a little more than half of sales, yet last year at this time the then-latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus accounted for over 80%.”
On the other hand, the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the iPhone SE together managed to get 20% share in US smartphone market.

Coming to Apple iPad, the iPad Pro holds the largest share in US with 40%. This can be attributed to both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models. Both the models managed to grab equal share of 20%. However, the highest seller turned out to be the 9.7-inch iPad with 31% sale in the last quarter. With this market share the 9.7-inch iPad Pro is the top seller in this segment.
