Design and Display
Xiaomi used the catch phrase ‘big is back’ to promote the Xiaomi Mi Max, but at 6.44 inches in diagonal size, the right tagline should have been ‘the beast is back.’ The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is not the type of device you can expect to comfortably use with a single hand.
However, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 shows off a svelte body at 7.5mm thick. The design is similar to that of its predecessor with an all-metal chassis.
As for the colossal display, the resolution remains 1080 x 1920 pixels. A pixel density of roughly 342 pixels per inch means the IPS panel should deliver nice visuals. The touchscreen also gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Looking at the specs sheet, it appears Xiaomi decided to slim down the rear camera this time. You no longer get a 16-megapixel unit. A 12-megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash and phase detection autofocus is available for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 instead.
This is not as bad as it appears, though. The primary shooter has, in fact, been compared to that on the latest flagship Mi 6. The selfie snapper remains at 5 megapixels.
Hardware and Software
An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor powers the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. This runs at speeds up to 2.0 GHz and receives support from ample 4 GB of RAM. Solid performance can be expected from this beast. An Adreno 506 GPU looks ready to facilitate enjoyable gaming.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants. You can add another 256 GB using a microSD card. It gets newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS coated with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin.
Other Specs and Features
You may expect longer battery runtime on the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. It offers a bigger 5,300mAh Li-Ion juicer, compared to the 4,850mAh unit on its predecessor. Quick Charge 3.0 tech will let you boost the battery to 68 percent in just an hour.
Connectivity options available in the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 include a reversible USB Type-C connector. The rear mounted fingerprint scanner also remains part of the package.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports LTE. In Nigeria, the smartphone supports LTE on MTN, 9Mobile, and NTel.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is not yet available in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. When available, you can buy it at leading online stores in the country. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Price in Nigeria is expected to range from 150,000 Naira to 250,000 Naira depending on your location in Nigeria.
